Having cute kids with great smiles and personalities is a huge bonus, but if you don’t have a good photographer that is patient, creative, and fast – you probably won’t get pictures like this:

Wrestling fun gone awry.
This kid is about as tough as boot leather. He looks like a real rugby player in this picture. His mom was not too happy with me that I had to get the picture before she cleaned him up and gave him a little TLC. But I know a good Kodak moment when I see one.

What has two thumbs and lost their first 2 teeth tonight?

We got home from a Jasper road trip and instead of brushing teeth before bedtime, we pulled ‘em. Jake’s front 2 lower teeth have been pretty loose for a little less than a week. The first one was pretty easy, the second one was more of a challenge. He was motivated by the idea that the tooth fairy gave “2-teeth bonuses” if they are both pulled on the same night. Gorgeous weather, great playtime, gross commentary…
Jen and the boys were outside playing in the backyard when I got home from work yesterday. It was one of those perfect weather days. They were all 3 swinging on our new swingset.
They were really swinging high and looked like they were having a blast. As I walked out, I snapped a few pics, and I said, what do you guys think about this new swing?
Jen: I can’t believe this thing’s not breaking.
Jett: I’m so brave, Dad (as he clutched Jen’s arm with a deathgrip!)
Jake: Swingin so high is making my penis feel tickled!
What d’ya do?
Bedtime, buds, & a benediction-bottleneck.
These are 2 of my best buds in the world! Putting them down for bedtime is so much fun (most of the time). Usually, whichever of us is putting them down will read from this devotional book (which I highly recommend to any parent), take turns praying, make sure that every conceivable excuse to get up after we leave the room has been checked off of the list (a totally futile task – because they seem to always find a reason to get up at least once), give hugs/kisses and lights out!
